My Top 5 Hair Styling Essentials.

I generally have two hairstyles. My hair dried when I was awake so now it's straight, and my hair dried while I was sleeping so now it's wavy. As low maintenance as that seems, my hair actually demands a lot of attention. I've been growing it out for about 3 years now, and my last trim was about 4 months ago. I have a ridiculous amount of split ends, and I just can't bear to cut them. So my main focus is to keep my hair as healthy as possible to prevent any damage and continue my dreams to be Rupunzel.

Friday Roundup: Food Edition

I decided to take the train home for Thanksgiving this year. It's not too long of a trip, only about an hour and a half. And I really enjoy trains. I think they are very peaceful. I did my crossword puzzle app for most of the ride.

November Empties

I know it's not the very end of November yet, but with all of the holidays coming up, I wanted to get this post done. And you might notice that the background is different. That's because I'm at my parent's house for a week.

Review: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink 6

I'm not sure why I have not reviewed this yet, as it is probably my favourite lip product out of all the ones I own. It's definitely not new, but it is part of the Bobbi Brown permanent collection so you can still get it. It is a cheek/lip tint that is in my opinion, the perfect my lips but better shade. Now they sell it in different packaging, a compact with a mirror, but the formula is the same.

Look of the Day + Face of the Day

Today I decided to do a combination post since my camera was acting up and I didn't have a lot of high quality pictures of either my makeup or outfit. I've been having a sunday filled with struggles. The lighting just is not working for what I want to photograph. And it finally snowed, a lot, and my body seems to have only two states. Unreasonably cold and unreasonably hot. But other than that, today is a very pretty day. The snow looks nice on the grounds covering everything and the sun is out.

Review: Skindinavia Setting Spray (Original)

After I had a little incident with my foundation breaking down during a night out, I decided that I needed to invest in a setting spray. Since it was my first dabble into setting sprays, I wanted to try out something cheaper like Elf or NYX. But the general consensus that I read in reviews was that only mid to high end setting sprays did the job well. And I decided to get the Original Skindinavia setting spray in the 4 ounce size.

Friday Round Up: B&A, Candy and Getting Your Hair Stuck in Your Scarf

So as usual, I creep around campus taking pictures like a tourist. It's definitely winter now based on the temperatures. but no snow. Just dark, grey days where it seems to constantly be misting. I don't mind it too much. It just gives me more excuses to sit inside with friends and drink copious amounts of warm beverages.

Face of the Day: Purple Smokey Eye

I've recently decided to follow the trend of using palettes that don't get a lot of love. And I have this one by Rimmel that was injured in a depotting accident and sits in a drawer. I don't think I have ever used it. I tried it out today, and the colours are pretty nice. They're nowhere near Urban Decay or Bobbi Brown, but they are definitely usable and look quite nice. I finished the look off with a peachy lipstick and pinned back bangs.
Also, I feel like I finally found some good eyebrow colours. I'm naturally a blonde with very black eyebrows. Go figure. And when I fill them in, several people have commented that they look too dark and strong. However, if I go to a lighter brown, you can obviously tell where the hairs end and the powder begins. But this combo of a medium brown and dark brown seems to work well.

Look of the Day: Big Red Coat

I think it's a lot harder to look cute in the winter, since I'm usually all bundled up under large coats. But brightly coloured coats can also be a great statement piece. Today I'm wearing this large red one that I got from a thrift store, but originally it is from Talbot's. I would never have considered that store to make anything trendy for people my age. But this works.

With it I'm wearing a burgundy scarf from H&M and wedge booties from Forever 21.

And if you are so inclined, feel free to take a look at my LookBook:

What do you think of colourful coats?

Review: La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-Aging Primer with Sunscreen

I don't have too many products from La Roche-Posay. Their sunscreen gets a lot of love, but since I use a physical one, I have only tried a couple samples and never bought the full size. However, my mom actually recommended this primer to me and it is an amazing product. I think it blows the Porefessional and the Smashbox ones out of the water.

Face of the Day: Pink and Purple

Today I definitely went for something I don't normally wear. I was looking through my palettes and realized that my Urban Decay Deluxe Palette doesn't get a lot of love so I wanted to do a look with it. And I came up with this pink and purple smudgy eye topped off with pink blush and a pink stained lip.

4 Ways to Beat the Winter Blues

I'm not a winter person. I don't ski, snowboard, or make snow angels, and my body temperature seems to be lower than average. With the way I act, you would think I was from somewhere tropical, and not Eastern Europe. BUT I do have some tips on making it through winter without becoming too miserable when it gets cold and dark outside.
Of course, not everyone is living in a climate that's cold right now, but most of these tricks would probably raise your mood no matter what it's like outside.
And when I say the 'Winter Blues" I'm referring to just general ickiness people feel during winter, not Seasonal Depressive Disorder, which I imagine would not be well treated by eating soup and lighting a candle.

Face of the Day: Neutrals

I find myself falling into the neutral pitfall often, since browns look very nice with my green eyes. And today was one of those days since I didn't have anywhere super special to go (hello library). I did do a little bit of contouring with a light bronzer, but left my lips nude except for some much needed lip balm.

Crazy About Lipstick Tag

I decided to do this tag after reading the lovely Kat's responses at So let's get started!

Face of the Day + Outfit of the Day

Every half year or so, my boyfriend's fraternity has a nice night out in Windsor, Canada. So I thought the perfect look would be a hot pink dress paired with a brown smokey eye and a pink lip. That eyelash placement is haunting me. But they looked good with my eyes open.

Review: Lioele Super Moisture Hyaluronic Acid Dr. Ampoule

I usually buy Korean beauty products after reading good reviews of them online or having people recommend them to me. I could not find a single review in english of this product. Which is strange considering the powers of google. It really does not seem to be a popular. However, I was really interested in buying something with Hyaluronic Acid. And given the fact that the weather is getting drier and I need more moisture, I tried this out.

Friday Roundup: Study Hard Edition

I apologize for not posting much this week, but I had so much work that I was spending 6+ hours in the library every day in addition to going to my regular classes. But, the week is over, and I should have some more free time to devote to this blog. In reality, this friday roundup should just include me looking ragged and sleepy all week, but that would be no fun.

Review: Lorac Front of the Line Pro + Ordering from

I normally wouldn't do reviews of where I bought my beauty products, but I was so so impressed with the, that I had to add a little mini review of them as well. And of course, I have been looking for a great liquid liner and I think I found it.

5 Beauty Products that Smell Delicious (And that I secretly want to eat)

Not all beauty products smell delicious, but when they do, it can be a fantastic pick me up when you use them. Here is my top 5 list of things I enjoy sniffing.

Friday Roundup: Fall, Nails and Cute Things

While I am not a fan of how quickly it gets cold in the fall, I think that the seasonal change is very pretty, especially in Michigan. Even on cold and rainy days, you can appreciate the golds, reds and oranges everywhere. Honestly, it's very tempting to put like 100 pictures of trees on my instagram.

Look of the Day: Faux Peplum?

My friend was taking my pictures so things got a little silly, but today I was wearing a double print combo. I had a cow spot patterned longer top under a Christmas black and white flower sweater. Together they made an almost peplum effect. I also paired that with plain black leggings and some rain boots because it was a soggy day. And of course, an owl locket necklace to tie everything together.

What did you wear today?

Face of the Day: Liner and Lashes

Some days I get this overwhelming urge to wear false lashes for absolutely no reason. I also get the urge to pair them with no makeup on the rest of my face. And today was one of those days. I wore my Ardell 109 lashes with some black liner and used my Mary-Lou Manizer as eyeshadow. Because sometimes, you just need to wear some wings.

Review: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream

I find that most hand creams are pretty meh. And people don't talk about hand creams. I can't even think of what would be a popular holy grail hand cream; maybe the L'occitane Shea Butter. Either way, since the demands of hand creams arn't great, most products are able to get away with being mediocre, with few being bad. This is not one of those products. I was not expecting this to be anything special. The packaging is pretty unexciting, and Neutrogena is all over the place. However, this is the greatest hand cream I have ever used. Ever. After putting it on, I kept on touching my hands all day. And I think that's impressive for such an unassuming product.

Face of the Day: Mixing Lipsticks

'Scuse the bangs please. They always seem to want to do their own thing. But today I decided to mix together two of my Mac lipstick shades that just never seem to work on their own. I would hate to just have them sit on my vanity, because the formulas are great, but the colors don't look good on my skin. I also paired my dual colored lips with some light shades from the Urban Decay Ammo Palette.

Outfit of the Day: Canary Yellow Skirt

Today I decided that I needed some colour and sparkles to brighten up my monday. I'm wearing a yellow skirt from Ebay, a thrifted black embellished sweater and some high wedge booties by Dolce Vita. I'm really liking this sweater because the little beads are sewn on very well. With other pieces of clothing that have sequins on them, I'm afraid of some falling off, but I'm the second owner (possibly more) of the sweater and it is in great condition. And the yellow skirt goes nicely with the gold thread.

How do you ward off the monday blues?

Review: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

So this product and I got off to kind of a rocky start. It was my first Korean toner and I wasn't sure what it was supposed to do other than reduce the size of my pores. But I kept on using it simply because I liked the way it felt on my face after washing. My skin is rather dry, so after cleansing, it feels slightly tight. Normal alcohol based toners would make it sting, while this one actually made it feel moisturized. And I think that's the main reason I like this product, it feels very nice after washing AND maybe makes my pores smaller.

October Empties

So I decided to call this my October empties, but they're not just for the month of October. I tend to go through products very slowly, so it would be impossible for me to do one every month. But in the last week or so, I more of less ran out of a lot of products, so I finally get to make this post. Come see what I used up!

Outfit of the Day: Blue, Gold and Black Sweater

So I've been in a little bit of an outfit slump recently, and I need to get out of it. One of the best ways to motivate myself to do that is LookBook and of course, sharing what I wear on here.

My LookBook is

And today I decided to do one of my usual sweater and legging combinations. The sweater is from a thrift store and has this really cool flower pattern in blue, white and black along with gold thread. My leggings are just plain black and from Forever 21. I also decided to wear my gold Michael Kors watch and my very awesome Dolce Vita Cut-Out Heel Mary Jane Pumps.

Haul: Missha, Liole, La Roche-Posay and Tresemme

So I guess this doesn't all count as a haul because my mom actually bought me the dry shampoo and the primer, but I totally paid for the BB cream and Dr. Ampoule myself. I also got a very nice free candle with a very cheesy name. Seductively French anyone?

Friday Roundup: Food and Halloween

So I have spent a lot of time this week eating because everyone brings out their candy around Halloween (even university students), and I just can't say no to chocolate.

How I Store My Makeup: Glam Edition

I keep the makeup that I use most often on this tiered platter that I made. I simply used 2 plates, a candlestick and a glass that I found at thrift stores and glued them all together for a chic storage idea. I do have more makeup, but since I don't use it as often, it just sits in a plain box in one of my drawers.
